Kinda wish i still had my prep logic subscription now cause there tests were extensive. i plan to be done watching the videos(i have cbt and train signal) by the 7th. I`ve gotten through the first chapter of darrils book with the hopes of a chapter a night and then reading the review sections and doing the tests up until the actual exam. I am still looking for a good study guide that I can print out, I used the MC MCSE free study guide for Net+, it was nice because that's also where I wrote all my notes on.Īnd Congratz on the pass for Net+, score of 885 without using any books, nice!!! A little problem I had studying for Net+ was I had too many resources to read/watch from, I will just concentrate on these two for Sec+. I will use Darrils book as my main reference and will probably get CBT Nuggets. I plan to take it the last week of December, I have that week off. if i sit for the exam first I’ll repost and let you know. All I can offer is an opinion of someone using what you’re asking now. It seems CompTIA made the test to be taken in order from A+ to Net+ to Security+. Coming from A+, then Net+ or just Net+ you should have a decent amount of the basics down besides things like cryptography and disaster recovery.

I don’t like using books (didn’t for Net+ and got an 885) but I’ve heard so many good things about it I’m going to give it a shot now. I`ve read of people passing the security+ exam alone on understanding Darrils book, so the cbt nuggets can only help cement what you learn from the book or vice versa. Security+ I'm gonna need more motivation and time to process ,as I have less experience in that field. I just passed the Network+ exam with no problem. Arthur Conklin, Dwayne Williams, Roger Davis, Chuck Cothren: Books For secondary reference i'm eyeing out this book, has anyone used it?ĬompTIA Security+ All-in-One Exam Guide, Second Edition by Gregory WhiteĪ: CompTIA Security+ All-in-One Exam Guide, Second Edition (Exam SY0-201) (9780071601276): Gregory White, Wm. I already bought Darril Gibson's book from Amazon.

Plus on Udemy, there's no monthly fee, so there's that too.Has anyone here tried the CBT Nuggets Security+ series and if it helped a lot? I've used them before for CySA+, Azure, and AWS content as well.

I swapped to the C course offered on Udemy which was probably around 25-30 hours worth of content with an instructor who went much further in depth with the inner workings of C that helped me really grasp it. They certainly have a lot to improve on, but they are still one of the best places you can go to get training on some topics. I've had my fair share of issues with them, and I know about the content stealing that has happened on their platform. I think it's important that everyone considers Udemy. It's just a video series introducing you to the tools. About 6 hours long to learn ethical hacking? No, not really. The Kali Linux course is outdated (still using init) and is a very fast course for what should be a much more in depth topic. Pluralsight went the low route, LinuxAcademy went much further. Linux+ is also kinda rough because the objectives are very vague. I can at least appreciate the instructor showing what the commands do in their terminal, but LinuxAcademy goes over so much more content and so many more options. The Pluralsight Linux+ course is an embarrassment compared to what LinuxAcademy offers. There's just splotches of missing information that you need to dig around for. The instructor seemed good enough with C, but often did my most hated thing in any programming course, and start to assume the watcher either understands what you're doing or the syntax you're using. There's a longer course but by choosing a flashy title over making it a structured path to follow, it's easier to drop off on.

This is enough to install Code Blocks and make a simple calculator, but you'll never get anything worthwhile accomplished. So to start, the C Course is 1 hour, 30 minutes long.

The three courses I was horribly disappointed with were Linux+, C Fundamentals, and Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking with Kali Linux. Pluralsight is amazing but tends to lean more heavily on the hottest trends, but as a result, they really neglect a lot of the topics you might want to learn very thoroughly. Their price has been my main detractor which is why I ended my subscription with them. I wanna at least give it some credit in a sec.ĬBT Nuggets content is great and they typically cover more vendor-specific stuff (at least more thoroughly) than Pluralsight. Wanted to give my two cents regarding Pluralsight vs CBT, and an additional shout out to Udemy, which I know has a bad name.
